Fruits & vegetables are a great source of fiber and the antioxidant nutrient, vitamin C. Be sure to take a look at the Rainbow's End to see why these are needed by your body.

It is often hard to tell the difference between Blue and Purple fruits & vegetables but they all have several important nutrients and phytochemicals.

Grapes

Grapes are a good source of phytochemicals that can act as antioxidants to protect against cancer and keep the heart healthy. One of these phytochemicals is also good for keeping the blood flowing smoothly and not clotting. This is good news for the heart and brain!

PlumsPurple onions and cabbage have all the benefits of white onions and green cabbage (see the white and green pages for details) but also a little added benefit of another phytochemical that acts as an antioxidant and can also improve memory. This phytochemical is what gives the purple color! Plums also contain this great phytochemical.

Eggplant

Other purple fruits and vegetables contain phytochemicals which can protect against cancer, improve memory and keep your heart healthy.
